Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a GIS Specialist to join our water and wastewater GIS team. In this position you will work closely with project team members to assist in the collection, design, creation and maintenance of geospatial data.

The role emphasizes producing spatial data, high-quality geospatial products, field data collection with GPS, GIS analysis, and supporting asset management activities while leveraging ArcGIS and related tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field.
  • Demonstrable competence with ArcGIS Online, Field Maps, Survey 123, ArcGIS Pro, Microsoft Suite, GPS technologies.
  • Experience or education related to ArcGIS Enterprise, AutoCAD, Microstation; basic programming/scripting in Python, Javascript and HTML5 is beneficial.
  • Must be well organized, detail oriented, and possess strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and apply previous instructions to current tasks.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Produce spatial and non-spatial data with technical accuracy.
  • Create high-quality geospatial products using cartographic principles and standards.
  • Identify and solve technical problems under supervision.
  • Conduct field data collection using GPS and mobile technologies.

Mott MacDonald is seeking a GIS Specialist to join our water and wastewater GIS team. In this position you will work closely with project team members to assist in the collection, design, creation and maintenance of geospatial data.

  • Produce spatial and non-spatial data while ensuring technical accuracy and logical consistency in data processing and outputs.
  • Produce high‑quality geospatial products by employing cartographic principles, industry standards, and custom solutions.
  • Identify and solve technical problems under supervision.
  • Conduct field data collection using GPS and mobile technologies.
  • Daily activities include:
    • Utility and municipal data entry and corrections
    • Conducting GIS analysis
    • Generating GIS deliverables
    • Supporting customer GIS needs
    • Conduct field data collection
    • Support asset management activities
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Geography, Planning, Environmental Science, Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
  • Demonstrable competence with: ArcGIS Online, Field Maps, Survey 123, ArcGIS Pro, Microsoft Suite, GPS technologies
  • Experience or education related to: ArcGIS Enterprise, AutoCAD, Microstation and basic programming/scripting using Python, Javascript and HTML 5 are beneficial.

  • Be able to work independently with minimal supervision and apply previous instructions to current tasks

  • Experience working with underground utilities, hydraulic modeling and asset management.
