Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a GIS Software Engineer to design, develop, and test software applications in a GIS-rich environment. You will collaborate with business partners to define requirements, integrate data across systems, and deliver APIs with clear documentation.

The role emphasizes SDLC discipline, reusable code, and strong SQL data work, with hands-on ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcPy, and ArcGIS Online experience highly valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in GIS, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 4+ years designing and developing Esri GIS solutions, preferably within ArcGIS Enterprise environments.
• Strong programming experience in Python and/or Java, with proficiency in at least one language.
• Experience developing integrations between GIS platforms and other enterprise systems, including error handling and reporting.
• Solid understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and ability to clearly articulate development processes and best practices
• Experience developing reusable code, APIs, and technical documentation
• Knowledge of spatial databases and SQL development
• Language-agnostic mindset with the ability to work across multiple technologies and tools

Responsibilities

• Assists in the design, development and testing of software applications.
• Resolves day-to-day incidents to assure the integrity of the services.
• Consume, transform and update data between two or more systems using integration software.
• Consults with business partners to identify and define software applications needs.
• Analyzes requests for changes, updates or modifications to software and makes design recommendations.
• Develops documentation relating to program definition, development, and end user specifications.
