Job summary

TRC Companies, Inc. is seeking GIS Interns for our Summer 2027 internship program across multiple U.S. locations including Lakewood, CO, Houston, TX, Seattle, WA, Raleigh, NC, Chicago, IL and Phoenix, AZ.

This is a paid full-time internship from June through August 2027, with potential to transition into a full-time role after graduation. Under supervision of project managers and engineers, interns will support GIS deliverables, data mapping, scripting, and client-facing projects, gaining

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Pursuing PhD, Masters, Bachelor or Associate Degree in Computer Science, Geography, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or ArcGIS.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• GIS - Intermediate; Python - Basic elementary coding.

Responsibilities

• Support GIS deliverables including coding and scripting geoprocessing tools, data and schema mapping, ArcGIS Pro and web map/app configuration.
• Assist with client-facing IG projects such as configurations, point checking, commissioning, and telecommunication troubleshooting.
• Assist with internal efforts to update and maintain IG solutions.
• Identify ways to lead with technology by researching new software or solutions to advance our services.
• Perform data entry, data management, data evaluation, and data presentation.
• Support the preparation of reports, plans and specifications for client.

TRC is seeking highly motivated and diverse GIS Interns for our Summer 2027 intern program out of our Lakewood, CO, Houston, TX, Seattle, WA, Raleigh, NC, Chicago, IL or Phoenix, AZ Offices. This is a paid full-time position. Anticipated duration will be from June through August 2027 (flexible). This position has the potential to transition into a Full-Time role upon graduation. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Project Managers and Team Leaders and partner with engineers, scientists, and technologists.

Responsibilities

• Support project or internal teams with tasks in service of GIS deliverables including coding and scripting geoprocessing tools, data and schema mapping, ArcGIS Pro and web map/app configuration
• Assist with ongoing client facing IG projects such as configurations, point checking, commissioning, and telecommunication troubleshooting
• Assist with internal efforts to update and maintain IG solutions
• Identify ways to lead with technology by researching new software or solutions to advance our services
• Perform data entry, data management, data evaluation, and data presentation
• Support the preparation of reports, plans and specifications for client
• Will be supported by leaders, mentors and teammates
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as necessary

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Pursuing Phd, Masters, Bachelor or Associate Degree in Computer Science, Geography, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or minor/certificate in ArcGIS
• Minimum GPA of 3.0
• Has excellent verbal and written communication skills
• GIS - Intermediate; Python - Basic elementary coding
• Detail-oriented, critical thinking, takes initiative, resourcefulness, adaptability
• Possesses solid technical and problem-solving skills
• Self-motivated, detail orientated person
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
• Honest, fun, hard-working and ready to learn and grow

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
