Job summary

MissionHires is seeking a Database and GIS Lead to steward a mining company's integrated data environment across geology, geochemistry, geotechnical, hydrogeology, metallurgy, environmental, and spatial datasets. You will centralize datasets, own end-to-end drill hole workflows, and mentor teams in best practices.

Responsibilities include administering GIS/database platforms, ensuring data integrity, governance, and supporting NI 43-101 compliance with auditable datasets.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years in mineral exploration or mining.
  • 3+ years administering geological/databases in mining.
  • Experience supporting NI 43-101 compliance.
  • Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro; QGIS is a plus.
  • Strong SQL/QA/QC data skills.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary administrator of geological database and GIS platforms.
  • Centralize multidisciplinary datasets into a single source of truth.
  • Own drill hole data workflow from collar to master database.
  • Design and maintain data validation, integration, and reporting.
  • Manage data security, backups, and audits.
  • Support regulatory reporting and NI 43-101 compliance.
  • Maintain spatial datasets: claims, geology, geochemistry, etc.
  • Produce maps, dashboards, and technical visuals.
  • Support field teams with mobile GIS and licenses.
  • Lead data governance and quality practices.

Why This Role Matters

MissionHires is recruiting a Database and GIS Lead to steward a mining company's integrated data environment across geology, geochemistry, geotechnical, hydrogeology, metallurgy, environmental, and spatial datasets. The role owns end-to-end geological data workflows, GIS administration, and data governance to support decision-making and compliance through PFS and FS, including NI 43-101. You will centralize datasets into a single source of truth, ensure integrity, traceability, security, and accessibility, deliver maps, dashboards, and analyses, and mentor teams on best practices.

How You'll Contribute

  • Serve as primary administrator of geological database and GIS platforms, enforcing data standards, user access, and governance
  • Centralize and integrate multidisciplinary technical datasets into a single authoritative source supporting PFS and FS
  • Own end-to-end drill hole data workflow from collar registration through lab receipt, QAQC insertion, and master database integration
  • Design and maintain data validation protocols, capture processes, integration workflows, and reporting systems
  • Manage data security, backups, disaster recovery, and coordinate imports/exports, audits, and reconciliations
  • Support technical studies, regulatory reporting, and NI 43-101 compliance with accurate, auditable datasets
  • Maintain authoritative spatial datasets (claims, land, drill holes, geology, geochemistry, geophysics, infrastructure, environmental/permitting)
  • Produce maps, figures, and technical illustrations for programs, management, presentations, and regulatory submissions
  • Support field teams with mobile GIS configuration, spatial data collection, and administer GIS licenses and access
  • Develop dashboards, data visualization tools, and spatial analysis workflows; proactively flag data quality and integrity issues
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship in database administration, GIS, data governance, and quality practices
  • Meet physical and safety requirements, including communicating in English and complying with drug/alcohol testing policies

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, GIS, Geoscience, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mining Engineering, or related field
  • 7+ years in mineral exploration, mining, or natural resources; 3+ years administering and integrating geological/multidisciplinary databases in mining
  • Experience supporting advanced-stage projects through resource estimation, PFS, or FS with auditable datasets for NI 43-101
  • Advanced proficiency in ArcGIS Pro; QGIS experience is an asset
  • Hands-on administration of an industry geological database platform (e.g., acQuire, Fusion, or Rogue Geoscience), including templates, validation rules, lab import configuration, and user management
  • Strong SQL and relational database skills (PostgreSQL) with ability to write queries for validation, QAQC reporting, and automation
  • Experience with data analytics or AI-assisted tools to improve data quality or process efficiency is an asset
  • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, and lift/carry up to 10 pounds; communicate safety requirements in English
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
