Job summary

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group is seeking an Intermediate GIS Analyst to focus on GIS analysis, data management, and high-quality map production for environmental projects and reports. You will manage incoming and outgoing data, build maps, and support project needs with Esri software expertise.

The role emphasizes QA/QC, data integrity, and collaboration with Canacre field teams to deliver accurate geographic information and mapping solutions across multiple projects.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in GIS, Cartography, Geography, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 to 7 years professional GIS experience.
  • Experience with ESRI ArcGIS and extensions.
  • SQL Server/Enterprise DB knowledge is a plus.
  • Experience with Esri tools (Experience Builder, Story Maps, Hub Sites, Field Maps, Survey123) is advantageous.
  • Proficiency with ArcGIS Desktop/Pro and relational databases.
  • Experience building online GIS assets (Portal, ArcGIS Online).
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, and Esri Arcade.

Responsibilities

  • Develop high-quality custom maps and reports.
  • Convert data and conduct GIS analysis.
  • Create, edit and manage data for various projects.
  • Perform data analysis and spatial queries.
  • Design QA/QC procedures on mapping and data products.
  • Evaluate cartographic and GIS principles.
  • Resolve data/project issues and liaise with field teams.
  • Set up internal GIS system and data collection capabilities.
  • Provide drawings and geographic information for environmental projects and reports.
  • Create and maintain vector, raster and tabular data and databases.
  • Collaborate with Canacre departments to deliver quality service.
  • Perform other duties as required.

The Intermediate GIS Analyst focuses on GIS analysis, manages incoming and outgoing data, creates high quality map products and identifies mapping requirements for internal and external parties.

What You'll Do
  • Develop high quality custom maps and reports.
  • Convert data and conduct GIS analysis.
  • Create, edit and manage data for a variety of projects.
  • Perform data analysis and spatial queries.
  • Design and conduct Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures on mapping and data products.
  • Conduct evaluations of cartographic and GIS principles.
  • Address and resolve issues relating to project and/or data.
  • Liaise with Canacre Field Team on related projects.
  • Set up internal GIS system including field data collection capabilities and in-house data management systems.
  • Provide drawings, data and geographic information for various environmental projects and reports.
  • Create, analyse and maintain vector, raster and tabular data and databases.
  • Liaise with Canacre departments to deliver quality service.
  • Perform other duties as required.
What You'll Bring
  • Post secondary degree in GIS, Cartography, Geography, or related field of study, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 to 7 years professional experience in GIS.
  • Educational or Professional experience with ESRI ArcGIS and its extensions.
  • Basic understanding of SQL Server/Enterprise Database knowledge.
  • Professional experience with Experience Builder, Story Maps, Hub Sites, Field Maps, Survey 123 and other advanced Esri software is considered an asset.
  • Digitizing, editing, and performing queries in ArcGIS Desktop/Pro, and relational databases.
  • Online tool development in the Esri suite of products (Portal and ArcGIS Online), including Experience Builder, Field Maps and Survey123.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.
  • Python, SQL and Esri Arcade language.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A keen attention to detail.
  • An understanding of the importance of projections, coordinate systems and datums.
