Job summary

City of Montgomery, AL is seeking an entry- to intermediate-level GIS Analyst to create and maintain GIS data and spatial analysis products. The role includes supporting GIS users with training and technical assistance and contributing to departmental objectives.

You will work on less complex projects under the supervision of the Senior GIS Analyst and a GIS Manager, with a focus on data collection, map production, and software utilization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 1 year GIS experience including data collection, map production and GIS mapping software utilization.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain GIS data; create, edit and maintain digital and hardcopy spatial analysis products.
• Provide support, training and technical assistance to GIS users.

Job description

The fundamental reason this classification exists is to perform entry- to intermediate level Geographic Information System (GIS) duties.These duties include creating, implementing, and maintaining GIS data.The work responsibilities are creating and maintains GIS data; creates, edits, and maintains digital and hardcopy spatial analysis products; provides support, training, and technical assistance to GIS users; and contributes to departmental objectives.The GIS Analyst is distinguished from the Senior GIS Analyst in that the GIS Analyst is assigned to less complex projects and requires closer supervision.Project assignments and technical guidance arereceived from the Senior GIS Analyst; supervision is provided by the GIS Manager.

Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Planning, Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field and one (1) year of GIS experience, to include data collection, map production, and GIS mapping software utilization.
