Job summary

Portage Township Schools is seeking a part-time Girls Assistant Track Coach for Portage HS to lead practices, coordinate events, and support student-athlete development. Responsibilities include scheduling, supervising during workouts and competitions, and promoting sportsmanship and teamwork.

The ideal candidate has coaching experience in track, familiarity with IHSAA/NFHS rules, and appropriate certifications (First Aid/CPR).

Qualifications

Knowledge of the sport assigned, with prior successful coaching experience preferred.
Familiar with IHSAA/NFHS rules for track and field.
IHSAA coaching certification preferred (training available).
First Aid and CPR certification (training available).
Ability to communicate with parents and students.
Ability to foster positive student-athlete relationships with staff and community.
Criminal history and DCS clearances may be required.

Responsibilities

Develop practice and competition schedules for the assigned sport.
Supervise athletes during practices and competitions and promote good sportsmanship.
Monitor academic progress and ensure eligibility of student athletes.
Coordinate facilities, equipment, and rosters for the team.
Hold preseason or postseason parent meetings and maintain team records.
Report injuries or concerns and maintain association membership.
