Detroit Community Schools in Detroit, Michigan, seeks a dedicated Girls Head Basketball Coach to lead and inspire a high school girls program. You will guide practices, develop players, and foster a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship and academic achievement.

You will plan workouts, implement game strategies, supervise travel, and collaborate with teachers, athletic staff, and families to support student-athletes’ growth on and off the court.

Qualifications

• Previous coaching experience in basketball, preferably at the high school or competitive youth level.
• Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, game strategy, and player development.
• Ability to motivate and mentor student-athletes in a positive and professional manner.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and respectful team environment.
• Ability to work collaboratively with school personnel, athletes, and families.
• Understanding of safety practices and supervision responsibilities in an athletic setting.

Position Overview

• CPR, First Aid, or related coaching certifications, if required by the organization.
