Responsibilities

• Holds organizational meetings for team prospects and encourages potential athletes to participate in the sport.
• Assesses player’s skills and assigns team positions.
• Develops a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time to provide both individual and team development.
• Works with the athletics director in scheduling facilities for practices and competition.
• Assigns duties to an assistant coach as necessary.
• Coaches and instructs players regarding the rules, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
• Observes players to determine needs for improvement.
• Determines game strategy based on team capabilities.
• Maintains student-athlete conduct and supervision.
• Monitors academic performance to ensure eligibility.
• Conferences with parents/guardians regarding athletic performance.
• Follows regulations governing the athletic program.
• Acts as a team representative and promotes the sport to media and clubs.
• Maintains equipment, supplies, and uniforms; assists with awards.
• Participates in special activities such as parent’s night, banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies.
• Maintains eligibility forms, emergency data, insurance records, inventory, and related records.
• Models nondiscriminatory practices.
