Job summary

Notre Dame Prep is seeking an Assistant Coach to work with the Head Coach in developing student-athletes and promoting academic excellence, fitness, and sportsmanship. The role supports training, development, and performance while aligning with the school’s mission.

The position involves evening/weekend hours, travel to away games, and flexibility to assist in multiple roles such as recruiting and event planning, under the supervision of the Athletic Director.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; coaching certification preferred.
• 1–2 years of coaching or playing experience at HS or collegiate level.
• Ability to complete and maintain First Aid certification.
• Strong knowledge of the sport: techniques, rules, strategies.
• Effective communication with student-athletes, parents, and staff.
• Strong leadership to motivate student-athletes.
• Ability to work as part of a team with the Head Coach and staff.
• Organizational skills for practice schedules and logistics.
• Fosters positive, respectful, inclusive team environment.
• Maintains professional conduct on and off the field.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Coach in planning, organizing, and conducting practices and events.
• Provide instruction, feedback, and motivation during practices and competitions.
• Help develop team strategies, drills, and plays.
• Monitor student-athlete eligibility and conduct.
• Assist with evaluating new student-athletes.
• Assist with team communications to keep players and families informed.
• Help organize team events, fundraisers, and logistics.
• Support equipment, uniforms, and other needs.
• Attend staff meetings and contribute to progress reviews.
• Watch health and wellness of student-athletes and provide care when needed.
• Provide feedback on performance and areas for improvement.
• Represent the school positively on and off the field.
• Other duties as assigned by Head Coach or Athletic Director.
