Responsibilities

  • Assist with patient care activities and intraprocedural support under RN/physician supervision.
  • Assist physicians with endoscopic procedures, including specimen retrieval, labeling, and transport to lab.
  • Prepare procedure rooms and equipment per physician specifications and assemble necessary instruments.
  • Perform high-level disinfection and reprocessing of equipment/scopes according to standards.
  • Clean, calibrate, operate, and maintain equipment per manufacturer and policy guidelines.
  • Document procedures, images, videos, and patient charges in EMR systems.
  • Assist in maintaining unit inventory and stocking supplies.
  • Perform clerical duties such as phones, filing, scheduling, and patient records.
  • Assist with patient positioning and transporting using safe techniques.

## GI Technician (PRN)Applylocations: Green Baytime type: Part timeposted on: Posted Todayjob requisition id: JR100258GI Technician (PRN)The **GI Technician** assists physicians and nursing staff in the preparation, performance, and recovery of gastrointestinal procedures such as endoscopies and colonoscopies. This role ensures that equipment is properly prepared, maintained, and sterilized while supporting patient care throughout the procedure process.**Essential Job functions and responsibilities*** Assists with patient care activities and related services under the supervision/delegation of the registered nurse and/or physician, including but not limited to intraprocedural support.* Assists physicians with endoscopic procedures, including accurate retrieval of specimens, specimen preservation, labeling, and transportation of specimens to the lab.* Assists in initiating and/or collaborating with the team for all safety initiatives, such as the timeout process, traceability of equipment used, and reporting of safety events.* Organizes and prepares procedure rooms and equipment according to each physician's specification, checking and assembling the proper instruments and equipment needed.* Performs high-level disinfection and reprocessing of equipment/scopes safely and effectively based on established standards.* Cleans, calibrates, operates, and performs preventative maintenance on equipment according to manufacturer's recommendations and infection control policies and guidelines.* Reports and documents equipment repairs.* Documents procedures, images, videos, and patient charges utilizing the endoscope and ultrasound information systems.* Assists in maintaining inventory for the unit by informing the unit when supplies are needed, stocking supplies, and receiving ordered supplies.* Performs various clerical duties which may include answering of phones, filing, data entry, scheduling and compilation of patient records.* Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper techniques.* Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.* Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures.
