Job summary

Paycom is seeking a GI Technician to assist physicians and other GI Lab professionals. The role involves patient prep, room setup, equipment disinfection, and assistance during GI procedures.

Responsibilities include handling instruments, assisting with draping, and ensuring Sterile Processing Department (SPD) tasks are completed. On-call availability is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required or equivalent.
• Licensed Vocational Nurse preferred.
• One year GI Tech experience preferred.
• Basic CPR is required.
• Knowledge of aseptic technique and surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Disinfect and assemble equipment for GI procedures.
• Assist physicians, anesthesia, RN and other professionals in the GI Lab.
• Arrange instruments and supplies in the GI Lab; ensure good working order.
• Assist in positioning patient on bed and preparing for the procedure.
• Don gowns and gloves; assist team in donning sterile attire.
• Hand instruments to physicians and support during the procedure.
• Apply dressings post-surgery and sterilize equipment.
• Perform SPD duties and clean the GI Lab.
• Be available for on-call shifts.

Summary: GI Technicians assist physicians and other medical professionals in GI Lab. Chiefly, they prepare patients, rooms and equipment for GI procedures. They also assist during those procedures as part of a team of GI Professionals.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Ensures that all of the equipment needed for the procedure is properly disinfected and assembledPerforms technical skills and provides assistance to physicians, anesthesia personnel, registered nurses, and other professionals in the GI Lab.Places equipment and supplies in GI Lab and arranges instruments, according to instructions.Check that the equipment is in good working order.Assists team members to place and position patient on bed.Scrubs arms and hands and dons gown and gloves.Aids team to don gowns and gloves.Assist in draping patients, using sterile surgical drapes to cover the patient.Hands instruments and supplies to physicians, and performs other tasks as directed by the physician during the procedure.Puts dressings on patient following surgery.Washes and sterilizes equipment.Performs SPD duties.Cleans GI Lab.Available for on-call.Education and/or Experience.High School DiplomaLicensed Vocational Nurse preferredOne year of GI Tech. experience preferredBasic CPRKnowledge of aseptic technique and surgical procedures.
