Job summary

Join Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital for a role as a GI Technician. You will work under licensed staff to assist in patient care, instrument processing, and equipment handling in a fast-paced gastroenterology setting.

The position runs days, 8:00AM – 4:00PM, requiring a High School Diploma or GED, Medical Assistant certification or hospital experience, and BLS/BCLS certification. Prior gastroenterology exposure is preferred. Ohio hospital environment experience is valued.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Medical Assistant certification or 1 year hospital experience with medical terminology and computers.
• BLS or BCLS certification per AHA or Red Cross.

Responsibilities

• Assist in assessment and identification of patient needs and obtain vital signs, notifying RNs of findings.
• Perform rounds on patients in the prep/observation area to meet patient needs and aid in care.
• Assist physicians and/or nurses during procedures and tests within scope of competency.
• Maintain clean and safe environment; clean/defrost refrigerators, prepare carts, clean and process endoscopy instruments and PPE.
• Maintain inventories and communicate needs to appropriate personnel.
• Utilize software applications as appropriate.
• Assist with breath tests in GI Special Testing Lab.
• Receive patients at reception and facilitate throughput; prepare charts and track patients in Op Time; assist with scheduling procedures and at the control desk.
