Job summary

Children's Health in Dallas, TX is seeking an GI Endoscopy Tech to support GI procedures alongside a GI registered nurse and physician. You will prepare patients, ensure all equipment is ready, and assist in turning over procedure rooms and processing endoscopes while applying GI physiology knowledge and device management.

The role requires a high school diploma, Basic Life Support, and preferred Medical Assistant certification.

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers required.
• Current Medical Assistant certification acquired through an accredited institution preferred.

Responsibilities

• Cleans, leak tests, and disinfects scopes to High Level Disinfection (HLC) per policy.
• Obtains and checks supplies and equipment for endoscopic procedures and sets up the procedure area.
• Passes instruments to and assists physician during procedures.
• Assists with cleaning and turnover of procedure rooms between cases and transports patients/equipment as assigned.
• Maintains PAR levels and assists supervisor with inventory and supply processing.

Summary

In collaboration with the GI registered nurse and physician, the employee assists in GI procedures being performed. The employee may prepare patients for examination/procedures. Ensures all equipment, instruments and supplies are available for the procedures and assists in turning over procedure rooms. Processes endoscopes and other equipment. Exhibits knowledge of GI physiology, equipment and device management, and GI therapeutic interventions. Documents patient information in the electronic health record.

Responsibilities

• Cleans, leak tests, and disinfects scopes to High Level Disinfection (HLC) in accordance with hospital policy, SGNA and manufacturer guidelines. Maintains required processing and testing logs as assigned.
• Obtains and checks supplies and equipment needed for all endoscopic procedures. Sets up procedure area per departmental protocols with instruments, supplies, equipment and solutions required for all procedures and labels solutions appropriately as necessary.
• Passes instruments to and assists physician during procedure. Manipulates instruments at the direction of the physician or registered nurse.
• Assists with the cleaning and turnover of procedure rooms between cases, including transporting patients and equipment as assigned.
• Stocks supply and procedure rooms as assigned. May receive shipments, assist with inventories as assigned. Assists supervisor in maintaining appropriate PAR levels for all supplies.

Work Experience

• Less than 1 year - Minimum 6 months experience in a patient care setting Required

EDUCATION

• High school diploma or equivalent Required

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

• Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements Required
• Current Medical Assistant certification acquired through an accredited institution Preferred
