Job summary

The Center for Green Market Activation is seeking an analyst to support our GHG accounting and target-setting standards, focusing on the AIM Platform developed with C2ES and Gold Standard. This role emphasizes data analysis, briefing materials, and clear communication with cross‑functional teams.

You will work in a remote, entrepreneurial team environment, requiring strong organizational, research, and writing skills and a passion for market-based decarbonization in heavy transport and industry.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research and analyses by gathering data from a wide variety of sources, assessing data credibility, performing accurate quantitative and qualitative calculations, and displaying results in a clear, concise way for senior team review.
• Prepare briefing materials, presentations, and meeting materials to support stakeholder engagement and technical working groups, including heavy PowerPoint slide development.
• Draft and edit short and long form technical reports, member briefings, website content, and other communications, translating complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
• Support coordination with external partners, member companies, and technical experts by tracking action items and helping move collaborative workstreams forward.
• Contribute to other GMA programs and strategic initiatives as organizational priorities evolve.

Context

The Center for Green Market Activation™ (GMA) is a U.S.-based, globally oriented nonprofit accelerating the transition to zero-carbon goods and services in heavy industry and transport. Launched in 2024, GMA leverages book-and-claim systems, collective procurement, and buyers’ alliances to drive decarbonization in hard-to-abate sectors—from aviation to trucking to chemicals – while also working with and developing global corporate climate standards aligned with the highest levels of environmental integrity.

GMA takes work/life balance very seriously. Outside of stakeholder meetings, we will be as flexible as possible on work hours to meet your particular home life needs. Staff will be expected to work an average of 8 hours/day.

Location

Remote, contiguous United States (no AK or HI due to time zone). Applicant must currently live in and have the right to work in the United States. Preference will be given to applicants in CA, CO, DC, GA, MA, MD, MN, NH, NJ, NY, OR, TX, WA.

Key Responsibilities and Qualifications

This position will be devoted to providing analyst-level support on the team’s GHG accounting and target-setting standards efforts with a primary focus on the Advanced and Indirect Mitigation (AIM) Platform. The AIM Platform is a joint initiative of GMA, the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES), and Gold Standard that develops standards and practical guidance to help companies accelerate value chain decarbonization through credible market-based approaches.

1. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, have great attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and mission-driven environment. Candidate should have a strong interest in market-based approaches to corporate supply chain decarbonization, carbon accounting standards and guidance, and be excited to grow quickly and take on more responsibility over time and as needs evolve.

Responsibilities will entail:

1. Conduct research and analyses by gathering data from a wide variety of sources, assessing data credibility, performing accurate quantitative and qualitative calculations, and displaying results in a clear, concise way for senior team review.

Required

1. Strong commitment to addressing the climate crisis and interest in supporting heavy transport and industry decarbonization through the lens of standard and guidance development.
2. Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental studies, sustainability, energy, public policy, economics, or a related field.
3. Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize competing deadlines, and work independently.
4. Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to clearly explain complex information to a variety of audiences.
5. Strong analytical and research capabilities.
6. Ability to quickly learn new technical subject matter.
7. Comfort working in a remote, entrepreneurial team environment.
8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint).
9. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Preferred

1. Experience with corporate GHG accounting and target-setting frameworks, or voluntary climate standards.
2. Experience with environmental attribute certificates or chain of custody systems, including book and claim approaches.
3. Master's degree in engineering, environmental studies, sustainability, public policy, political science, economics, or a related field.
4. Experience supporting multi-stakeholder initiatives or collaborating across diverse organizations is a plus.

Salary and Benefits

1. Salary: $65,000-$95,000 / year depending on location and qualifications
2. Bonus: Eligible for up to 15% year-end performance bonus
