Job summary

Formlabs is seeking a Freelance German Translator to post-edit English marketing content into German for a global audience across engineering, manufacturing, dental, medical, jewelry, and education. This role supports AI-assisted localization and ensures high-quality, consistent German output.

You will use memoQ, XTM, Trados, and Memsource, manage the German termbase and translation memory, and provide feedback to improve source content and workflows. Remote-friendly collaboration is available.

Qualifications

• Native-level German (C2) with impeccable grammar and strong English communication.
• At least 2 years of translation (freelance, agency, or in-house) and editing experience.
• Understanding of marketing communication style, tone, and brand strategy.
• Familiarity with CAT tools and experience translating technical, scientific, medical, or commercial content.

As a Freelance German Translator, you will take care of AI post-editing English marketing content to German for a wide range of audiences that include engineering, manufacturing, dental, medical, jewelry, and education.

The job:

• Post-edit English marketing materials, product and software UIs translated by a custom-made AI model
• Ensure high-quality and accuracy for all approved content
• Provide feedback to localization management and content writers to enhance source content and improve workflows
• Become proficient with our CAT tool to maintain the highest standards of quality and consistency in German translations
• Manage and update Formlabs’ German termbase and translation memory
• Localize video content into German, including subtitling, voice-over creation or editing, and refinement of AI-generated video content
• Research specialized terminology and phraseology to ensure precise and accurate translations

You:

• Language Expertise: Native-level German proficiency (C2) with impeccable grammar, exceptional English communication skills (written and verbal)
• Professional Experience: At least 2 years of experience in translation (freelance, agency, or in-house) and editing
• Marketing Acumen: Understanding of marketing communication style, tone, and brand strategy
• Technical Know-How: Familiarity with CAT tools (e.g., memoQ, XTM, Trados, Memsource) and experience translating technical, scientific, medical, or commercial content
• Detail-Oriented: Ability to clearly and concisely convey complex technical and non-technical concepts
• Independence and Drive: Capable of meeting tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality output
• Passion for Language: A deep interest in translation, linguistics, terminology, or related fields

Bonus skills:

• Experience with SEO/AI Search Optimization
• Knowledge of manufacturing tools like3D printers or CAD/CAM solutions
