Job summary

The Nursing Assistant (NA) functions as a member of the nursing care team and assist licensed nursing staff to provide care to geriatric Veterans/residents with acute to chronic conditions in the Community Living Center. Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.

Qualifications

• Provide a range of patient/resident care and contribute to the nurse care plan.
• Observe patients/residents' physical or emotional status and report deviations.
• Properly use equipment and supplies in basic diagnostic/treatment procedures.
• Communicate effectively with patients/families and health professionals.

Responsibilities

• Provide broad patient/resident care as part of the nursing team.
• Assist licensed nursing staff in delivering care and supporting plan implementation.
• Monitor and report changes in condition to supervisors.
• Assist with basic care activities and maintain safety and comfort of patients.
