Job summary

Terracon is seeking a geotechnical engineer with 0–5 years of geotechnical experience for a hybrid role based in the Omaha/Lincoln area of Nebraska. You will participate in field explorations, analyze data, and prepare reports while supporting client projects across a range of markets. EIT is preferred; PE welcome.

Responsibilities

• Prepare geotechnical proposals, scopes, and cost estimates.
• Participate in field explorations including soil borings, CPT, and instrumentation installation.
• Review field and lab data to develop geotechnical recommendations.
• Perform engineering analyses using standard software tools.
• Prepare geotechnical reports and recommendations for clients.
• Collaborate with project teams, contractors, and clients to solve engineering challenges.
• Support construction-phase services and instrumentation monitoring.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships.
• Engage in professional organizations and industry events.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

• Prepare geotechnical proposals, scopes, and cost estimates
• Participate in field explorations including soil borings, cone penetration testing, and instrumentation installation
• Review field and laboratory data and develop geotechnical recommendations
• Perform engineering analyses using industry-standard software tools
• Prepare geotechnical reports, technical memos, and recommendations for clients
• Collaborate with project teams, contractors, and clients to solve complex engineering challenges
• Support construction-phase services, foundation observations, and instrumentation monitoring
• Build and maintain strong client relationships
• Participate in professional organizations and industry events

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
• 0-5 years of geotechnical engineering experience
• EIT/EI certification preferred; PE license welcomed
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
• Willingness to travel occasionally for field assignments and project support
