Job summary

MC Squared, LLC, a geotechnical consulting firm, seeks a Staff Engineer in Kennesaw, GA to join its Geotechnical Department. You will perform geotechnical analyses, field exploration, and lab testing, while preparing field packets and client reports for DOTs, municipalities, and large engineering firms.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering is required; advanced degrees preferred.
• Successfully passed the E.I.T. exam.
• Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.
• Demonstrate independent analytical ability as well as strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Strong personal safety awareness is expected.

Responsibilities

• Execute geotechnical project assignments including analysis, report preparation, field exploration and laboratory services.
• Develop reports and proposals at the project level.
• Prepare field packets before field activities.
• Perform field sampling and laboratory testing.
• Oversee testing on geotechnical projects during design and construction and support Project Managers with inquiries.
• Track progress within tasks and provide timely updates to Project Managers.
• Follow department QA/QC procedures and safety policies.
• Develop understanding of common project tasks for career growth.

Job description

We are growing through acquisition and winning new projects regularly. Working with our Geotechnical Department team, we have an opportunity for a Staff Engineer to join us in our Kennesaw, GA office.

Job Responsibilities & Requirements

• Execute Geotechnical project assignments including engineering analysis, report preparation, field exploration and laboratory services.
• Provide project-level development of reports and proposals.
• Prepare the "field packet" before initiating any field activities on projects.
• Field and laboratory sampling and testing.
• Oversight and testing on geotechnical projects during design and construction and support Project Managers with responding to customers’ inquiries concerning testing progress and reporting.
• Track your own progress within each task of a project and provide timely updates to Project Managers, and propose corrective actions if needed.
• Follow department policies and procedures, and support achieving our goals and objectives.
• Ensure tests are carried out in accordance with relevant standard test methods and according to agreed customers’ requirements.
• Analyze and review field and lab data to ensure accuracy and to meet Company quality standards.
• Conduct geotechnical evaluations as required and ensure compliance with applicable design codes & manuals.
• Prepare GDOT and non-GDOT geotechnical reports.
• Ensure safety policies are followed and demonstrate a safe attitude.
• Review your own work to ensure adherence with the Department QA/QC procedures.
• While executing project tasks, develop an understanding of all tasks common to most projects as this is fundamental for career development.

Education and Related Requirements

• B.S. degree (M.S. degree or Ph.D. is preferred) in Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering.
• Successfully passed the E.I.T. exam.
• Strong oral and written communication skills
