Job summary

Willmer Engineering in Atlanta, GA is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to support projects from exploration through construction, collaborating with engineers, geologists, project managers, and clients.

The role offers a hybrid schedule (2 days in the office), mentorship, and opportunities to lead investigations, prepare reports, and contribute to design decisions.

Candidates should have a Civil Engineering degree and 2–3 years of geotechnical experience, with a path toward PE licensure.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • 2–3 years of geotechnical engineering experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Valid driver's license
  • Geotechnical engineering emphasis (preferred)
  • Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering (preferred)
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) (preferred)
  • Experience with GDOT or other DOT projects (preferred)
  • Experience preparing geotechnical reports and engineering recommendations (preferred)
  • Interest in obtaining PE licensure (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Perform geotechnical engineering investigations and evaluations.
  • Assist with project planning, proposals, scope development, and scheduling.
  • Analyze subsurface conditions and develop engineering recommendations.
  • Prepare geotechnical reports, calculations, and technical documentation.
  • Coordinate drilling, laboratory testing, and field investigations.
  • Perform construction observations, quality assurance, and quality control activities.
  • Support foundation, earthwork, pavement, and retaining wall recommendations.
  • Communicate with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Assist with project budgeting and tracking.

What You'll Do
