Job summary

G2 Consulting Group in Ann Arbor is seeking full-time staff engineers to join our geotechnical solar team. You will perform field testing, laboratory testing, and engineering-report preparation for industrial-scale solar projects under supervision of a project engineer or project manager.

Most work is outdoors at sites across the country, and projects require travel of 1 to 3 weeks at a time. Travel frequency varies, and overtime or weekend work may be necessary to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, or related degree.
• Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and an excellent driving record.
• Preferred: Three months to four years of demonstrated experience in construction engineering.
• Strong Microsoft Windows and Office skills.
• Strong communication (verbal and written) skills.
• Strong prioritization, coordination and matrix management skills, self-directed and self-motivated.
• Strong administrative and time management skills with keen attention to detail.
• Ability to read and understand testing specifications.
• Ability to lift up to 99-lbs independently and multiple times daily.
• Ability to use hand power tools, saws, drills, and hydraulic equipment.
• Ability to work overtime and weekends, and travel out of town with long overnight stays.
• Willingness to work outside in hot and cold weather conditions.
• Willingness to independently operate heavy-duty construction equipment.
• Willingness to work in difficult terrain, active agricultural fields, cattle pastures, and wooded areas.

Responsibilities

• Represent G2 in a professional manner to landowners and clients.
• Complete and submit daily field test reports.
• Perform routine tasks, tests, and computations.
• Must be able to work on multiple projects within budgets and deadlines.
