Job summary

ECS Group of Companies in Chesapeake, VA, is seeking a Geotechnical Senior Project Manager to lead geotechnical and CMT projects from proposal through delivery. You will mentor staff and drive project profitability while ensuring client satisfaction and technical quality.

The role requires 5+ years of related experience and a PE or PG license. You will manage budgets, proposals, and client relationships, serving as the main contact for stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor and/or Master of Science in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geology, or similar is required.
• A Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Professional Geologist (P.G.) license is required in each state you work, or you must obtain a local license through reciprocity within three months of hire date.
• At least 5 years of related experience.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
• Strong business development and client relationship skills.
• Extensive knowledge of geotechnical principles and ASTM standards.
• Proficiency with geotechnical software.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Ability to mentor and develop staff.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Leads and manages geotechnical and CMT projects from proposal through completion
• Oversees preparation and review of geotechnical reports, including technical analysis and recommendations
• Ensures all project tasks, from proposal to final invoice, are completed accurately and on time
• Manages project budgets, change orders, invoicing, and collections
• Reviews field reports and ensures quality, accuracy, and completeness
• Prepares and oversees proposals and contracts
• Serves as primary point of contact for clients and project stakeholders
• Hosts and participates in project meetings to present findings and provide technical solutions
• Supervises field investigations, drilling, and testing activities
• Provides technical oversight and verifies calculations and recommendations
• Mentors and develops junior staff, technicians, and project managers
• Supports staffing decisions and resource allocation
• Performs other duties as assigned

ECS Limited is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Senior Project Manager to manage key client projects in our Chesapeake office. The Geotechnical Senior Project Manager leads and oversees geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing (CMT) projects from proposal through final delivery and closeout. This role is fully accountable for project success, including technical quality, client satisfaction, financial performance, and team execution. The Geotechnical Senior Project Manager provides leadership to project teams, mentors staff, and actively contributes to business development and client relationship growth while maintaining a positive customer service attitude and demonstrating ECS Core Values.

Required Qualifications

• If driving for or on behalf of any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver's license is required

The expected pay range for this role and location is $80k - $105k/year. The final agreed-upon compensation will be determined based on specific location and other individual qualifications.
