Job summary

Terracon is seeking a Geotechnical Project Engineer to lead and support a diverse range of projects across public works, transportation, commercial, energy, industrial, and communications markets in Iowa locations. • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
• 4–9 years of geotechnical experience.
• Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering preferred.
• Strong writing, communication, and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute geotechnical engineering projects of moderate size and complexity.
• Plan, schedule, coordinate, and perform field investigations, analyses, and design recommendations.
• Prepare and review proposals, technical reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Monitor project scope, budgets, schedules, and performance.
• Analyze laboratory and field data and incorporate findings into reports.
• Communicate progress, findings, and recommendations to clients and teams.
• Review deliverables for quality and standards compliance.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and staff.
• Support business development and client relationship management.
• Promote safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

We're seeking a motivated Geotechnical Project Engineer to lead and support a diverse range of projects across public works, transportation, commercial, energy, industrial, and communications markets.

In this role, you'll perform and oversee geotechnical investigations, engineering analyses, design recommendations, project planning, reporting, and construction observation. You'll collaborate directly with clients, mentor junior staff, and contribute to the successful delivery of projects from proposal through completion.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
• 4-9 years of relevant geotechnical experience
• Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering preferred.
• Strong technical writing, communication, and project management skills
• Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and collaborate with diverse team members
• A valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history
