Job summary

Certerra is seeking a Project Engineer to support geotechnical/materials testing projects in the Lenexa, KS area. You will assist field investigations, sampling, data analysis, and geotechnical reporting to help ensure safe, code-compliant project delivery.

The role involves collaborating with teams to prioritize workloads, maintaining safety standards on site, and communicating findings to owners and management. A BS in Civil Engineering and 5+ years of civil/geotech experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum BS in Civil Engineering.
• 5 years of experience in Civil engineering.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience with designing retaining walls, GeoStudio Slop/W software, AutoCad, GIS and Microsoft Office Products.
• Experience as an Engineering Geologist is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support field investigations for geotechnical/materials testing projects.
• Perform sampling and logging for drill holes and test pits.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret geotechnical data for building foundations, roads, and other engineered structures including bearing capacity, settlement, and erosion.
• Provide field observations, data, maps, and calculations in geotechnical reports.
• Provide project and site management of geotechnical projects to ensure worksite and project safety.
• Interface with other staff to coordinate geotechnical related aspects of projects.
• Write and compile geotechnical engineering reports.
• Maintain positive working relationships with team members and interact on projects.
• Collaborate with management and other teams to prioritize projects, workloads and needs.
• Work with clients to ensure projects meet goals and communicate adjustments to management and teams.
