Job summary

Ardaman & Associates, Inc. in Baton Rouge seeks an entry-level Logger/Field Technician to document and oversee geotechnical drilling projects, classify samples, and prepare them for transport.

The role involves assisting drillers, taking soil logs, and driving to sites; work is outdoors in all weather with regular overtime and occasional night/weekend duties. Training will be provided as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience with field drilling or site investigation is a plus.
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Ability to lift and move heavy materials.
• Familiarity with safety protocols and PPE usage.
• Ability to document site activities and communicate with team.

Responsibilities

• Assist drillers with locating job site and areas for drilling and determining accessibility (job setup).
• Identify boring locations using plans and GPS.
• Prepare soil samples obtained by the drillers.
• Package and label samples and transport samples to laboratory.
• Keep a written log of all soil borings.
• Load and unload equipment and supplies.
• Communicate with client and company representatives.
• Ability to lift drill steel and materials weighing up to 80 lbs.
• Assist in installing monitoring well casing and screens and other instrumentation in boreholes.
• Clean and maintain equipment.
• Help obtain drilling core samples.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
