Job summary

WSP in Indianapolis, IN seeks an Assistant Vice President of Geotechnical Engineering to lead complex transportation and infrastructure projects from concept through construction.

The role requires a PE in Indiana and 10+ years in geotechnical/infrastructure design with strong leadership, budgeting, and client coordination abilities. Travel may be required as projects demand, with a focus on safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of post-education experience in engineering, geotechnical and infrastructure design focused on the transportation industry in Indiana.
• Professional Engineer license in Indiana required (multi-state preferred).
• Proficiency with civil, geotechnical, and pavement engineering principles and design/build processes.
• Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and program/construction management.
• Strong knowledge of permitting, regulatory compliance, and QA/QC practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight collecting and analyzing geotechnical data from sites, surveys, and maps for project development and construction.
• Lead large-scale civil projects, manage budgets, track hours and expenses, and supervise subcontractors and team members.
• Develop construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates with coordination across disciplines and clients.
• Assist with engineering reviews of permit applications, design plans, and inspections to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Mentor staff and stay current with geotechnical engineering techniques and best practices.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on Federal, State, regional, and local projects and development opportunities.
