GZA is seeking an Entry Level Geotechnical Engineer/Soil Scientist in Somerset, NJ, to support a growing geotechnical practice. The role involves a mix of field and office duties, with mentoring from experienced professionals.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil, Geological, or Geotechnical Engineering; MS preferred.
• 1+ years of professional work experience preferred.
• Strong communication, problem solving and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Execute subsurface exploration and in-situ testing for foundation design and construction.
• Perform field construction observation during installation and underpinning activities.
• Evaluate field data and perform engineering analyses (e.g., slope stability, bearing capacity, settlement).
• Write field summaries, drafts of field and engineering reports, and technical documents.
• Prepare construction cost/quantity estimates.
• Assist with submittal reviews and RFIs during construction.
• Communicate effectively with contractors, clients and team members.
