Job summary

Pennoni is hiring a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer for our Newark, DE office on a full-time basis. You will assist senior engineers on multiple geotechnical projects, perform field observations, and help prepare technical reports and recommendations.

Fieldwork will be regular, requiring travel to sites and coordination with clients, contractors, and internal staff. Preferred candidates hold a BS in civil/geotechnical/structural engineering, with FE/EIT or plans to obtain EIT within a year, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering-oriented discipline (BS in Civil, Geotechnical, or Structural Engineering preferred).
• FE / EIT or obtain EIT within a year of hire.
• Knowledge of soil mechanics, bearing capacity, settlement.
• Experience coordinating field-based construction inspection operations.
• Experience observing and documenting construction activities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Familiarity with engineering tools such as AutoCAD and gINT; exposure to geotechnical software is a plus.
• Strong teamwork and communication abilities.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assist Engineers with the execution of multiple geotechnical projects.
• Coordinate with internal staff and external clients to ensure effective workflow.
• Work with Field staff and coordinate with clients and contractors during construction.
• Perform construction observation and materials testing.
• Conduct geotechnical field explorations (test borings, test pits, infiltration testing, etc.).
• Assist with / perform geotechnical investigations; prepare reports and develop recommendations.
• Additional tasks may be assigned as needed.
