Job summary

Langan is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our collaborative team in Irvine or Los Angeles, CA. The role focuses on planning and executing field investigations, monitoring foundation and earthwork construction, and preparing logs and reports for large-scale projects.

You will analyze geotechnical problems and assist in creating geotechnical engineering reports. The position offers hands-on field work, rigorous training, and opportunities for career growth within a top-tier firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering required; Master’s preferred.
• 1+ years of geotechnical work experience.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• EIT certification or FE exam in progress/obtained.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to spend most hours in the field and travel as needed.
• Ability to work independently and in a team; valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Assist planning and execution of field investigations including logging borings and test pits.
• Observe foundation and earthwork construction; ensure conformance with docs.
• Identify and implement field/lab solutions to technical problems.
• Prepare logs, field forms, and chain-of-custody records.
• Conduct site reconnaissance, file reviews, and document searches.
• Communicate issues clearly to supervisor and collaborate on solutions.
• Perform additional duties as requested by project teams.
