Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Design excavation, dewatering, foundations, dams, and geo‑environmental projects.
  • Create engineering designs of varying complexity.
  • Review designs for regulatory compliance and client requirements.
  • Perform site reviews and soil sampling analyses.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to junior staff.

Job Description

With general direction, the engineer designs excavation, dewatering, shallow/deep foundations, dams/reservoirs/levees, and geo‑environmental projects. The role involves creating engineering designs of basic to high complexity to meet client project requirements, reviewing draft designs for regulatory compliance, ensuring firm policies are followed, performing site reviews, soil sampling analyses and modeling, contributing to the firm’s technical knowledge base, submitting technical papers for publication, collaborating with sales staff on proposals, reviewing proposals for adherence to practices, meeting with clients to understand design needs, attending conferences to increase visibility, providing technical guidance and training to junior staff, mentoring junior engineers, and potentially supervising their work.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical, Civil, Mining or Geologic Engineering or related discipline.
  • Professional engineering (PE) license.
  • 7 years of related experience.
  • Domestic and/or international travel may be required; frequency contingent on duties and project demands.
  • Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Geotechnical Engineering.

  • Expert knowledge of computer-assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.
  • Expert knowledge of engineering principles of design.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Expert knowledge of federal, state and local regulations.
