Terracon is looking for a Geotechnical Engineering Professional to lead our Geotechnical Engineering team in Salt Lake City, UT! We are offering a SIGN-ON BONUS and relocation assistance for this opportunity.

General Responsibilities:

As a Geotechnical Department Manager, you will supervise or monitor all projects in progress within the department to ensure timely execution, adherence to client requirements, and compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards. You will supervise the preparation of proposals and cost estimates to clients, ensuring proper scope, manpower, and pricing to achieve desired profitability. Additionally, you will oversee daily operations, including staff training, development, performance reviews, equipment utilization, safety, quality assurance, and timely delivery of services and deliverables. You will also participate in business development activities to identify, develop, win, and execute project opportunities, as well as build and maintain client relationships.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare proposals and cost estimates.
  • Support business and client development activities with the Operations Manager.
  • Develop and manage staffing plans, recruitment, selection, and onboarding with support from the Operations Manager.
  • Prepare and execute the department's annual business plan with support from the Operations Manager.
  • Oversee key department metrics such as revenue growth, staff chargeability, project billing and collections, and project profitability.
  • Understand project-related risks and be familiar with risk policies to protect the company.
  • Lead safety efforts, ensuring team adherence to safety rules and promoting a safe work environment.
  • Promote continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects, engaging APRs at project onset.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, or a related technical discipline, with 5 years of practice experience, or a minimum of 9 years' related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Master's degree or PhD is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable violation history.
Preferred Certification:
  • Certification or licensure in your field of expertise.
