Job summary

ECS Group of Companies is seeking an entry-level candidate to assist in geotechnical fieldwork and subsurface exploration. You will help with boring, logging, and lab testing under supervision, gaining hands-on experience in soils, foundations, and reporting.

The role requires pursuing a Civil Engineering degree, a valid driver's license, and the ability to work outdoors and in labs. Training will cover safety, certifications, and field procedures at multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Actively pursuing a Civil Engineering degree or related field.
• One certification must be completed within the 90-day introductory period.
• All basic certifications must be completed within 270 days of employment.
• If driving for ECS, a valid driver's license is required.
• Strong communication, dependable, detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Assist with geotechnical fieldwork and subsurface exploration activities.
• Support obtaining utility clearances and preparing drilling instructions.
• Perform boring and test pit layout using surveying and GPS.
• Observe and classify soils and test pits.
• Prepare boring logs and location diagrams.
• Perform hand auger borings to obtain soil samples.
• Assist with specialized testing (Pile Driving Analyzer, seismic testing).
• Observe foundation construction and ground improvement activities.
• Support basic foundation analysis and engineering recommendations.
• Assist with laboratory testing of soils and concrete materials.
• Interpret test data and support reports under supervision.
• Maintain field and laboratory equipment and work areas.
• Document field and laboratory observations accurately.

Required Qualifications

• 0 years of related experience
• Actively pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, or other related degree
• One certification must be completed within the 90-day introductory period, and all basic certifications must be completed within 270 days of employment
• Certifications applicable to the work performed are required
• If driving for or on behalf of any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver's license is required
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
• Dependable, detail-oriented, and organized work ethic
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to follow directions and work under supervision
• Basic problem-solving and observational skills
• Willingness to work in outdoor field environments and laboratory settings
