Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Baton Rouge is seeking a civil engineer to specialize in bridge design and load rating assignments. Candidates will have a degree in Civil Engineering (Master's preferred) and experience with bridge design or inspections. Responsibilities include creating contract documents, performing engineering calculations, and using design software. The role supports cross-training in related civil disciplines and requires problem-solving skills and initiative. This is an office-based position with potential fieldwork exposure to weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment.
• Takes initiative on tasks and coordinates with the design team.
• Knowledge of codes and design requirements.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Developing ability to discuss project issues.
• MicroStation experience is a plus.
• Experience with bridge inspection is a plus.
• Experience with structural design is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform minor, major, and complex bridge design assignments.
• Conduct basic engineering calculations.
• Prepare engineering project documents.
• Create high quality contract documents for construction.
• Assist in bridge inspections and prepare inspection notes.
• Identify and address developing technical problems.
• Utilize design software for structural analysis.
• Prepare working and final drawings per client standards.
• Cross train for related civil engineering disciplines.
