Senior Geospatial Systems Software Engineer
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, develop, and optimize enterprise‑grade GIS applications and solutions.
- Provide technical leadership across the software development lifecycle — from requirements gathering and system design to implementation and delivery.
- Guide teams in Agile/Scrum environments, supporting DevSecOps best practices and CI/CD workflows.
- Oversee containerization strategies and deployment pipelines using Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift.
- Lead system integration efforts with geospatial databases (PostGIS/PostgreSQL), services (ArcGIS Enterprise, QGIS, GeoServer), and COTS tools (ENVI, RemoteView, Erdas Imagine, Skyline).
- Design and implement advanced geospatial data pipelines including acquisition, processing, and transformation at scale.
- Ensure compliance with Risk Management Framework and implement robust access control strategies.
- Lead the implementation of automated Static Code Analysis and Container Scanning within the CI/CD pipeline and drive remediation of vulnerabilities.
- Architect and implement secure, interoperable geospatial services utilizing OGC standards (WMS, WFS, WMTS, WCS, OGC API – Features) for seamless data exchange.
- Support AI/ML model integration by developing data frameworks, model benchmarks, and performance metrics.
- Conduct and lead peer reviews, QA/QC evaluations, code validation, and database design sessions.
- Act as a technical liaison with stakeholders, translating mission requirements into scalable solutions.
- Mentor junior and mid‑level developers, promoting knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
- Stay current on emerging geospatial, AI, and cloud technologies to influence strategic decisions.
Qualifications
- Proven leadership in developing and managing enterprise GIS solutions in secure environments.
- Advanced experience with Python, JavaScript, C++, HTML, SQL, and C#.
- Deep expertise in ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, GeoServer, and PostGIS/PostgreSQL.
- Strong understanding of RMF compliance, cybersecurity practices, and access management.
- Significant experience with DevSecOps, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes/OpenShift), and CI/CD pipelines.
- Expert‑level knowledge of OGC standards and their implementation within enterprise service‑oriented architectures and cloud‑native environments.
- Demonstrated ability to lead Agile teams and mentor other engineers.
- Familiarity with AI/ML integration and geospatial data science is highly desirable.
- U.S. citizenship required. TS/SCI clearance required (current or obtainable).
- 10+ years of experience in systems administration, engineering, and integration supporting large‑scale systems.
- 5+ years of DoW, military, or U.S. government experience.
Location & Work Arrangements
Springfield, VA. Potential 1 day work from home. Onsite work required. No travel required.
Clearance & Citizenship
Active TS/SCI clearance. U.S. citizenship required.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in information systems or a related field is required. 10+ years of experience in systems administration, engineering, and integration supporting large‑scale system sustainability. 5+ years of DoW, military, or U.S. government related experience.
Salary Range
$162,037 - $219,227 (based on experience, geographic location, and contractual requirements).
