Job summary
Telekom HBS in the United States is seeking a Geospatial Data Scientist to join our team and lead geospatial data workflows across projects. You will design data preparation pipelines, manage raster and vector datasets, and publish outputs via GeoJSON, Shapefile, or GeoTIFF, while collaborating with data engineers, API teams, and stakeholders.
Ideal candidates have advanced GIS degrees, hands-on PostGIS, Python geospatial tooling, and experience with cloud platforms and open data standards.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in GIS or related field; or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in GIS, geospatial data engineering, analytics, or solution implementation.
- Hands-on with raster and vector datasets, CRS, metadata, and data quality controls.
- Experience designing geospatial workflows: reprojection, joins, aggregation, clipping, and proximity analysis.
- Familiar with GeoJSON, Shapefile, GeoTIFF, and web mapping/service patterns (WMS/WFS/WCS/OGC API).
Responsibilities
- Review requirements and define geospatial implementation baselines.
- Assess data readiness: rasters, vectors, CRS, metadata, quality constraints.
- Design and implement geospatial data prep workflows and quality checks.
- Support processing for rasters, vectors, and publication-ready layers.
- Collaborate with client stakeholders to clarify requirements and feasibility.
- Prepare geospatial outputs via standard formats and APIs.
- Document workflows, validation, and operational considerations.
- Advise on geospatial performance, caching, and service patterns.
