Job summary

NV5 Geospatial is seeking Geospatial Backend Developers at junior to senior levels to support national security sites in St. Louis, MO area. Candidates will build backend services for geospatial processing using Python and Node.js, integrating with ArcGIS Enterprise. A Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility is required.

Responsibilities include API development, containerized deployments (Docker/Kubernetes), and cloud/on-prem solutions. Travel up to 15% may be required.

Qualifications

• US citizenship with Active Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI eligibility.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, GIS, or STEM-related field.
• 2+ years of backend software engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Hands-on experience Python, JavaScript/Node.js, Java for enterprise integrations.
• Experience designing REST APIs and service-based architectures.
• Experience extending or integrating with ArcGIS Enterprise.
• Familiarity with geoprocessing workflows, proxies, and GIS automation.
• Experience in containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong API design, software/systems design, testing and distributed services.
• Excellent problem solving and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Build backend services powering geospatial processing, automation, and user-facing features.
• Develop APIs, proxies, and integration services using Node.js and Python.
• Create and maintain backend tooling that extends ArcGIS Enterprise in containers.
• Develop and maintain geoprocessing services, automation scripts, and workflows.
• Build data ingestion pipelines across diverse enterprise sources.
• Support deployments across cloud-native and on-prem environments.
• Improve reliability and performance via API design, testing, monitoring, and observability.
