Georgia Gwinnett College seeks an AmeriCorps VISTA to strengthen sustainable systems that help students facing financial hardship, food or housing insecurity, foster care experience, and other poverty-related barriers access resources that support persistence, well-being, and educational attainment. The Student Support and Basic Needs VISTA will work with Student Support and Engagement Initiatives, the Dean of Students Office, Campus Care Pantry, Grizzly Thrift, Grizzly Forward, campus partners, and community organizations. This capacity-building role focuses on creating practical tools, procedures, resources, and partnerships that can continue after the VISTA term. The VISTA will strengthen volunteer recruitment, onboarding, training, communication, recognition, leadership, and tracking systems. They will improve pantry and thrift operations through inventory, donation, distribution, outreach, and reporting tools. The VISTA will also develop communications that increase awareness of basic-needs resources, the Case Management process, and Grizzly Forward supports. Additional work includes creating partnership tools, donation-drive calendars, student-success workshop materials, and evaluation resources related to food access, financial stability, well-being, academic persistence, and campus resource awareness. Ideal candidates are organized, collaborative, resourceful, and committed to educational equity and student success. Strong communication, writing, project management, outreach, volunteer engagement, partnership development, and data-tracking skills are helpful.
The AmeriCorps VISTA will build sustainable systems that expand Georgia Gwinnett College students’ access to basic-needs resources and student-success supports. The VISTA will strengthen volunteer recruitment, onboarding, training, communication, recognition, leadership, and participation-tracking processes for Campus Care Pantry, Grizzly Thrift, and approved Grizzly Forward activities. They will develop and improve inventory, donation, distribution, outreach, resource-sourcing, and reporting tools for Campus Care Pantry and Grizzly Thrift. The VISTA will create student-facing communications that promote basic-needs resources, Grizzly Forward, and the Dean of Students Office Case Management process. They will also develop partnership resources, donation-drive calendars, workshop materials, and evaluation tools related to food access, financial stability, well-being, academic persistence, self-advocacy, and campus resource awareness.
