Position Overview
In the role of Geophysicist, you will manage engineering geophysics projects, support proposal development, and work closely with the HDR Englewood office and field teams.
Responsibilities
- Manage and execute engineering geophysics projects, in field and office, for clients such as transportation, oil and gas, water resources, and environmental projects.
- Support proposal development efforts and contribute to the expansion of HDR’s Engineering Geophysics capabilities.
- Manage geophysical projects involving utilities, seismic, electromagnetics, magnetics, GPR, including field work, data processing, and reporting.
- Manage sampling projects local to Colorado.
- Provide oversight for utility projects such as pothole assessments.
- Work on site collecting data for munitions response projects, supporting the Program Manager and Project Managers.
- Travel to support HDR projects and assist Project Managers with planning and reporting before and after project execution.
- Work on engineering geophysics projects as necessary.
- Handle support activities: data collection, processing, work planning, reports, equipment logs, field forms, checklists, daily reports and associated documents.
- Communicate any project issues and concerns to management and help develop solutions.
- Interpret seismic data using advanced geophysical techniques.
- Work collaboratively with geoscientists, engineers, and negotiators.
- Assist with planning, supervision, and quality control of acquisition and processing of geophysical data.
- Complete integrated interpretations of geophysical, geological and well data to define prospective areas, to position exploratory well locations, and to define areas for further exploratory effort.
- Take on projects and tasks as assigned by management.
- Report to the HDR Englewood office; most local fieldwork will be based there.
- Position is primarily in the field.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Geophysics or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of industry experience.
- Technical understanding of exploration geophysics.
- Experience with Oasis Montaj Geosoft Geophysical Data Analysis software and MATLAB computational software.
- Attitude and commitment to being an active participant in an employee‑owned culture.
- Work includes travel out of state and ability to travel with overnight stays (1‑3 weeks at a time).
- No restrictions working on federal facilities.
- Ability to work primarily in the field.

Compensation for this position is $63,063 – $90,090, depending on skills, experience, education, and geography. (Stated benefits are for full‑time regular positions. Temporary and part‑time roles eligible for limited benefits.)
