Job summary

SLB in Houston, TX, is seeking a Middle Career Geophysicist to support customers in utilizing Petrel E&P software and perform geophysical interpretation tasks. This role includes providing technical support during the Sales and Service Delivery process.

Position: Middle Career Geophysicist (Houston, TX)

Division: Digital & Integration

Join our dynamic team to support customers in utilizing Petrel E&P software and perform geophysical and geological interpretation tasks to deliver high quality project study results in a timely manner.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support throughout the Sales and Product & Service Delivery process.
  • Assist with development of technical job designs and identify cost‑effective techniques.
  • Consult with Design/Technical Engineers to optimize technical design.
  • Respond to real‑time incidents, recover and investigate related to area of expertise.
  • Evaluate technical viability and overall appraisal of tenders.
  • Stay current on new technologies and maintain customer visibility through professional society activities.
  • Understand competition’s technical offering and contribute to external technical societies.
  • Write and review technical publications and engage with universities and research organizations.
Qualifications
  • Advanced VSP processing, skilled in processing complex subsalt datasets.
  • VSP survey design using ray and wave equation‑based methods.
  • Experience with 3D DAS VSP processing.
  • Experience in AVO walkaway VSPs.
  • Salt proximity survey processing and modeling.
  • Advanced VSP imaging workflow experience.
  • Master’s degree in Geophysics or a related Earth Science discipline.
  • Legal right to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
