Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan is seeking a Geomechanical Engineer to provide project oversight, review external consultants, and interface with mine design and planning to improve slope stability. You will analyze slope stability data, rock strength, geologic structures, blast designs and implement improvements; communicate results to site personnel.

The role requires a degree in Mine/Geotechnical Engineering with several years of hard rock mining experience; the company offers a comprehensive benefits

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mine Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related discipline with 5 years of hard rock mining experience.
  • Master's degree with 3 years of hard rock mining experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide geomechanical project oversight and review with external consultants and mine design teams.
  • Review slope stability data, rock strength parameters, and blast designs; ensure safe slope angles.
  • Communicate slope stability information to site personnel in a timely, accurate manner.
  • Inspect pit walls, stockpiles, and site access roads and report findings.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance slope stability programs.
