Job summary

Texas A&M University’s Department of Geology and Geophysics invites applications for the Michel T. Halbouty ’30 Postdoctoral Research Associate in Geology and Geophysics. PhD in geology/geophysics required by appointment, within 5 years of PhD, and have not held a permanent or tenured faculty position.

The appointee will conduct field, laboratory, and/or computational studies, collaborate across departments, and receive a $65,000/year stipend plus travel and research funds for up to two years.

Qualifications

• PhD in Geology or Geophysics (or related discipline).
• Ability to work outdoors and travel to field locations.
• Willingness to travel by driving or flying to remote locations.
• Ability to participate in long days for field work.
• Strong data analysis and writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field, laboratory, and/or computer modeling studies to address research questions in geology and geophysics.
• Organize, analyze, and synthesize data and write manuscripts and grants.
• Collaborate with Texas A&M faculty, staff, and students in research activities.
