Germanna Community College seeks a Geology Adjunct for Summer and Fall 2026 to teach geology in-person and online. Adjunct faculty teach up to 12 credits in fall/spring and up to 8 in summer; the contract does not guarantee continued employment.
Must reside within commuting distance to Spotsylvania, VA, or be willing to relocate to ensure reliable attendance. A Master’s in Geology is required, with strong teaching and online delivery skills.

Adjunct faculty members are responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in the designated discipline/field of study to students from a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences. We are seeking someone who is able to teach Geology both in-person and online. Adjunct faculty are employed to teach up to 12 credit hours in the fall and spring semester and/or up to 8 credit hours during summer session. Teaching load is based on student enrollment and staffing needs. The adjunct faculty contract contains no expectation or guarantee of continued employment.
This position is located in Virginia. Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance or be willing to relocate to ensure consistent, reliable attendance.
As a part of the primary responsibility to provide quality instruction, the College expects each faculty member to meet assigned classes regularly; submit required records and reports routinely; teach the prescribed courses of study with the established texts; and adhere to the statement on professional ethics in accordance with College policies, procedures, and regulations
This wide salary range reflects the diverse faculty ranks within the Virginia Community College System (VCCS). Final salary determination and placement within this range are based on the candidate's academic credentials and occupational experience as evaluated via the VCCS-10 process.
