Job summary

EnSafe in Nashville, TN is seeking a Geologist/Environmental Scientist to join our office onsite. You will support site assessments, investigations, and remediation for municipal, state, and industrial clients under seasoned staff, with growth into greater project responsibilities over time.

The role emphasizes teamwork, technical growth, and client engagement. A 2–6 year background in environmental consulting is preferred, with OSHA HAZWOPER training and valid U.S. driver's license.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • 2-6 years of professional environmental consulting experience.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training and certification (current).
  • Experience with multi-media environmental sampling (soil, groundwater, surface water, soil gas) and Phase I/II ESAs.
  • Familiarity with state and federal environmental regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, critical‑thinking, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Ability to travel 20-30% overnight travel.

  • Perform and support ESAs, including groundwater, soil, surface water, and soil gas sampling.

EnSafe is accepting applications for a Geologist or Environmental Scientist to join our Nashville, TN office. This position is expected to work onsite in the Nashville office. Relocation support may be provided to meet this requirement.

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking a Geologist/Environmental Scientist who is proactive, solution-oriented, and eager to continue developing their technical expertise. The ideal candidate will support environmental site assessments, investigations, and remediation projects for municipal, state government, and industrial clients under the mentorship of project managers and senior technical staff, with the opportunity to grow into increased project responsibilities over time.

Duties/Responsibilities

In this position, you will:

  • Prepare and contribute to Work Plans, Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessment Reports, and other technical documents related to site investigation and remediation.

  • Support regulatory compliance and permitting documentation as assigned.
  • Participate in internal technical reviews and quality control processes.
Skills/Experience

Minimum Skills and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • 2-6 years of professional experience in the environmental consulting industry.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training and certification (current).
  • Proven experience with multi-media environmental sampling (soil, groundwater, surface water, soil gas) and conducting environmental site assessments (Phase I and Phase II).
  • Familiarity with applicable state and federal environmental regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, critical‑thinking, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel 20-30% overnight travel.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle.
Preferred Skills
  • Geologist in Training (GIT) or Professional Geologist (PG) License.
  • Master’s degree in Geology, Environmental Science or related field.
  • Experience with the TDEC Voluntary Oversight and Assistance Program (VOAP).
  • Prior experience supporting remedial investigations and corrective action activities.
  • Experience coordinating field efforts with subcontractors and laboratories.
  • Familiarity with data management, regulatory submittals, and quality control processes.
