Job summary

CDM Smith Inc. in Boca Raton, FL is seeking a geologist/seismic specialist to perform basic to moderate complexity evaluations of fault rupture hazards, hydrogeologic analysis, and related assessments in surface and subsurface conditions.

Under supervision, you may conduct well geologic logging, water sampling, mapping, and aquifer testing; you will develop cross sections, QA/QC, and contribute to white papers and technical designs; travel up to 50% of the time.

Qualifications

  • Prepares cross sections and iso-concentration maps; develops calculations for regulatory compliance.
  • Supports technical papers and designs for publishing; attends conferences as needed.
  • Ensures adherence to firm policies on assessments.

Job Description
  • Under direct supervision, performs basic complexity geologic/ seismic evaluations/fault rupture hazard and slope stability investigations/ hydrogeologic analysis (aquifer test analysis; geochemical analysis; geotechnical analysis; contaminant transport analysis etc.) in both surface and subsurface geologic conditions pertaining to water supply, contaminant and/or geotechnical assessments.
  • Activities may include well geologic logging, water sampling, surface geological mapping, aquifer testing and/or soils characterization and data compilation and evaluation.
  • Prepares cross sections, Iso-concentration maps, and/or QA/QC analysis.
  • Develops draft evaluations and calculations for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Ensures that firm policies and practices are followed on all assessments.
  • Contributes to firm's TKM by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc.
  • Submits technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals.
  • Attends conferences, symposia, etc.
  • to improve the visibility of the firm's products and services in collaboration with applicable sales staff.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Skills & Abilities

Basic Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices. Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.). Communications skills. Basic knowledge of scientific methods and processes.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Science or related discipline. 0 years. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Additional Pay Range Information

CDM Smith is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. This pay range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels for the geographic location assigned to the position. In addition to geographic location, a candidate’s salary is determined by several other factors including, but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, relevant work experience, skills, required certifications, and education/training.

Additional Compensation

All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
