Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute field programs including environmental sampling and geologic characterization.

• Log and photograph borings per project and agency specifications.
• Oversee drilling activities and collect verification samples for QC testing.

Job description

This role leads field investigations, performs complex sampling and data evaluation, and supports technical reporting across environmental and geoscience projects in South Florida. The geologist will interpret subsurface and site data, keep work aligned with regulatory requirements, and serve as a technical point of contact for clients and project stakeholders. You will be joining a 4000+ person national multi-disciplinary consulting firm, supporting the environmental team and working alongide CMT professionals and geotechnical engineers.

Responsibilities

• Plan and carry out field programs with limited oversight, including environmental sampling and geologic characterization.
• Evaluate and interpret field and laboratory data for use in technical deliverables and regulatory submittals.
• Direct field crews through soil logging, monitoring well installation, and data collection efforts.
• Log and photograph borings in accordance with project and agency specifications, including verification borings constructed with soil-cement bentonite or self-hardening slurry.
• Oversee drilling activities and collect verification samples in support of quality control testing.
• Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, and analytical laboratories to keep projects on schedule and technically sound.
• Confirm work meets federal, state, and local environmental requirements as well as client-specific protocols.
• Review field documentation prepared by junior staff and provide technical feedback.
• Identify and resolve schedule, scope, or safety concerns, escalating to project management when needed.
• Support proposal development and scope writing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geology or a closely related discipline; Master's degree is a plus but not required.
• 4+ years of environmental consulting experience.
• Professional Geologist (PG) licensure is required.
• OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification with current 8-hour refresher.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, field logging software, and GIS tools preferred.
• Working knowledge of environmental regulations, remediation approaches, and site investigation methods.
• Experience leading field teams and executing Phase I/II ESAs, soil and groundwater sampling, and data interpretation.
• Proven ability to prepare regulatory reports and manage subcontractor and client coordination.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills.
