Job summary

Solvarus Consulting seeks a Senior Systems Engineer to provide end-to-end SE&I services to a National Customer, including NSG/ASG and Federal Agencies. The role emphasizes requirements engineering, architecture, and testing across complex GEOINT environments.

You will work with government stakeholders, lead technical analyses, and mentor Engineers in a fast-paced, mission-focused setting in Chantilly, VA.

As a Solvarus team member, you will serve as a Systems Engineer providing end-to-end Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) services to a National Customer. Key Responsibilities:

Systems Engineering and Requirements

• Assists the Government in directing requirements engineering, solutions engineering, scheduling, reliability, resiliency, services development, integration, test and evaluation, maintainability and analysis across the National System of Geospatial-Intelligence (NSG), Allied System of Geospatial-Intelligence (ASG) and Federal Agencies
• Capture and translate mission and customer needs into system and capability requirements and technical solutions
• Advise the Government on proposed solution design changes based on requirements analysis and emerging technologies

Integration

• Lead Analyses of Alternatives (AoAs), Courses of Actions (CoAs), trade studies, and engineering assessments
• Advise customers on strategic technical planning, project management, performance engineering, risk management, and interface design
• Provide technical expertise related to vision, strategy, plans, mission needs, requirements, processes, and capability development
• Integrate multiple systems across organizational, agency, department, and governmental/national boundaries

Program Leadership

• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to contractor engineering teams
• Oversee and coordinate the work of Senior, Mid-, and Junior level Systems Engineers
• Apply expertise to complex, multi-stakeholder programs supporting mission-critical GEOINT capabilities

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Systems Engineering or a related technical/scientific field such as Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Engineering Management, Computer Science, or a related STEM discipline; or equivalent additional experience (4 years with no degree or 2 years with a non-STEM degree)
• 18+ years of experience working in government or industry in relevant areas, including DoD/IC acquisition processes, requirements processes, PPBES processes, or systems engineering of large, complex Systems of Systems or Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) environments operating in cloud, on-premises, or hybrid infrastructures
• Strong understanding and demonstrated experience across the systems engineering lifecycle
• Extensive experience preparing and delivering briefings, technical papers, or engineering-related presentations to senior Government and customer staff
• Demonstrated knowledge of the current NSG/ASG enterprises
• Previous NGA and/or NSG/ASG program or project experience
• Proven ability to excel as a self-driven engineer working under light supervision and frequently with only high-level guidance for project needs
• Previous IC or DoD program/project experience
• TS/SCI clearance adjudication or the ability to obtain SCI and successfully pass a polygraph

Desired Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in Systems Engineering or a related technical/scientific field such as Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Engineering Management, Computer Science, or a related STEM discipline
• Working knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) processes, tools, and languages
• INCOSE Expert Systems Engineering Professional (ESEP) certification
• Membership or leadership participation in professional organizations such as: OGC, SAREM, USGIF
• Extensive experience in Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT)
• Experience engineering solutions using cloud-based technologies
• Experience engineering solutions employing Automation, Augmentation, and Artificial/Super Intelligence technologies
• Demonstrated expertise in remote sensing, image science, information sciences, geographic information systems (GIS), geomatics, or related disciplines
