Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a lead GIS professional to design, develop, and administer enterprise GIS databases, web-based and mobile apps, and geospatial services for a government client.

The role guides a team of GIS and IT professionals, translating client needs into robust technical solutions, while collaborating with partners, supervisors, architects, and developers on complex GIS challenges.

Qualifications

• Expert with ESRI GIS tools and open-source GIS applications.
• Strong map design, geographic data, coordinates, and spatial analysis.
• Advanced knowledge of hardware, software, networks, cybersecurity, and troubleshooting.
• Experience developing and supporting Web APIs.
• Strong relational database experience: PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server.
• Ability to communicate with clients and translate needs into technical solutions.

Job description

This position is responsible for leading, developing, and administering enterprise level Geographic Information System (GIS) databases, web based and mobile enabled applications, web services, and products for a government client of Insight Global. Often this position is required to lead a team of other GIS and IT Professionals in development efforts. This position will provide high-level problem-solving support to business partners, supervisors, architects, and developers that work with GIS systems at MDH. This position will also be responsible for providing leadership, consultation, and support to MDH division GIS/Geocoding needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Expert with ESRI tools including ArcGIS Desktop, Online, Enterprise, APIs, and open-source GIS applications.
• Strong background in map design, cartography, geographic data, coordinate systems, projections, and spatial analysis.
• Advanced knowledge of hardware, software, operating systems, networking, cybersecurity, firewalls, and troubleshooting.
• Proficient in C#, VB.NET, SQL, .NET, ASP.NET MVC, and ASP.NET Core development.
• Skilled in software development, database design, and creating innovative technical solutions.
• Experience developing and supporting Web APIs.
• Knowledge of GIS mapping tools, geocoding services, open-source applications, and data structures.
• Strong experience with relational databases including PostgreSQL, Oracle, and SQL Server.
• Ability to understand client needs and clearly communicate technical solutions.
• Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills with clients and teammates.
• Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new technologies.
• Able to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Skilled at translating business requirements into practical technical solutions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for complex technical challenges.
