Under direct supervision, the incumbent contributes to the end-to-end lifecycle of spatial datasets, the administration of enterprise databases, and the support of GIS application development. This role serves as a technical resource in bridging the gap between raw data management and functional database design, ensuring the integrity, security, and accuracy of the organization's geospatial infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Data & Database Support: Assist in managing and maintaining critical spatial datasets, specifically those related to public drinking water sources. This includes querying the SDWIS database to identify changes in drinking water sources and performing necessary updates to the Enterprise Geodatabase. Support the administration of ArcGIS Enterprise and Microsoft SQL Server environments, including troubleshooting, performance tuning, and the implementation of security and disaster-recovery procedures. Execute monthly QA/QC workflows to ensure the accuracy and reliability of data intended for public publication.
  • Technical Workflows & Analysis: Participate in complex technical workflows by conducting GIS analysis within hydraulic modeling processes and translating results into actionable geospatial layers. Facilitate program coordination by communicating critical data updates to the Source Water Protection Program (SWPP) and ensuring system-wide data integrity.
  • Development & Automation: Support the development of web applications using ASP.NET Core and JavaScript frameworks. Utilize Python to automate complex data workflows and assist in orchestrating routine system tasks and data translation.
  • Liaison & Support: Serve as a technical contact for GIS, engineering, IT, and regulatory teams. Provide end-user support and communicate technical findings to diverse stakeholders, including management and department officials, translating complex technical terminology into understandable terms.
Technical Requirements for the Position Entails:
  • Proficiency in ArcGIS Enterprise and Microsoft SQL Server environments.
  • Experience or familiarity with SDWIS database querying and Enterprise Geodatabase maintenance.
  • Ability to utilize Python for workflow automation and data processing.
  • Exposure to/knowledge of web development frameworks (ASP.NET Core, JavaScript).
  • Understanding of hydraulic modeling translation and geospatial analysis workflows.
Training:

Bachelor's degree, including six semester hours in computer science or GIS from an accredited college or university. Preference may be given to those with a degree in computer science, geology, geography, natural or earth sciences, forestry, planning, engineering, engineering technology, mathematics, or related field.
