Job summary

Patriot Engineering and Environmental, Inc. is seeking Geo Technical Staff Engineers for our Indianapolis, IN office.

Entry-level or experienced candidates will provide engineering and consulting services across public works, transportation, commercial, energy and industrial sectors. You will lead field investigations, perform analyses and prepare geotechnical reports, ensuring compliance with plans and specifications while coordinating with civil, structural and construction teams.

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering with EIT is required; MS in Geotechnical Engineering preferred.
  • Strong emphasis on soils mechanics, foundations, geotechnical engineering and civil engineering.
  • Professional-level written and oral communication skills are necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Executing geotechnical engineering projects from start to finish.
  • Developing field exploration and laboratory testing plans.
  • Preparing proposals for geotechnical engineering services.
  • Coordinating and managing field investigations.
  • Sampling and logging soils and rock during field investigations.
  • Research, engineering analysis and preparation of reports.
  • Tracking budgets and schedules to meet project requirements.
  • Reviewing foundation and grading plans for conformance with reports.
  • Collaborating with civil/structural engineers, architects and construction managers.
  • Using geotechnical software and databases as required.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Patriot Engineering and Environmental is growing and is looking for a Geo Technical Staff Engineers to join our talented and impactful team in our Indianapolis, IN office. After 6 months in our Indianapolis office, there is the opportunity to relocate to other offices in Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Ohio or Kentucky.

Patriot has an opening for entry level or experienced Geo Technical Staff Engineers.

The successful candidate will provide engineering and consulting services for a broad array of projects and clients. This may include performing and/or leading field investigations, engineering analysis, calculations, and recommendations, design and development of plans and specifications, observation and inspection, and the writing, preparation, and review of related reports for the services provided. Review drawings and construction to assure compliance with plans and specifications. Prepare proposals and cost estimates, track and evaluate project progress, budgets, and recommend changes. Research and resolve design and construction problems. Assign, review, and evaluate laboratory or field data for inclusion in reports. Apply sound engineering principles and be able to communicate complex engineering issues and concepts to technical and non-technical clients and project teams. Services may be provided for existing or proposed projects in the public works, transportation, commercial, communications, energy, and/or industrial sectors.

  • Coordinating/managing field investigations
  • Sampling and logging soils and rock during field investigations
  • Research, engineering analysis and preparation of geotechnical engineering reports
  • Tracking budgets and schedule to ensure project requirements are met
  • Review of foundation plans and grading plans for conformance with geotechnical engineering investigation reports
  • Collaborating with various other consultants including civil engineers, structural engineers, architects, and construction managers
  • Understanding and working familiarity with computer programs, geotechnical engineering software and databases as required
  • All other duties as assigned.
QualificationsQualifications Required:
  • BS in Civil Engineering and EIT required; MS with a Geotechnical Engineering focus strongly preferred
  • Educational emphasis on Soils Mechanics, Foundations, Geotechnical Engineering and Civil Engineering
  • Professional level written, and oral communications skills are necessary
  • Critical thinking and judgment skills
  • Demonstrated ability to listen, learn and communicate at highest levels.
