Job summary

Syngenta in Malta Genotyping lab is seeking an Associate Scientist who will execute DNA genotyping protocols, including DNA extraction, library preparation, PCR, and sequencing under supervision in a state-of-the-art facility.

This role runs Monday through Friday, 10:00am to 6:30pm, with responsibilities from sample prep to data entry in LIMS, maintaining equipment, and contributing to process improvements while ensuring quality and speed.

Qualifications

• Solid understanding of basic laboratory procedures and equipment.
• Authorized to work for Syngenta in the United States without sponsorship.
• 0–2 years of professional laboratory experience preferred.
• Experience operating and maintaining the following laboratory equipment: Tecan, Biotek Multiflos, centrifuge and sequencers.

Responsibilities

• Prepare DNA libraries for sequencing.
• Perform PCR activities.
• Extract DNA from leaf and/or seed samples.
• Add buffers to sample plates, operate sample grinders and liquid handling machines.
• Follow established protocols within required time limits, keeping test plates organized to maintain sample identity.
• Update tasks electronically via LIMS and contribute to process improvements.
